Fifo Roller Racks

What is a FIFO Conveyor System?

A First In, First Out (FIFO) conveyor system is a technique used for product storage in factories or warehouses. It allows goods to be stored and moved in the order they arrive, ensuring the first product in is the first product out. This system typically uses gravity or driven roller conveyors to store and convey large quantities of manufacturing goods. Products like pallets or totes are inserted at the infeed end and conveyed to the outfeed end, making it a straight-through storage method. Depending on the product size, weight, and fragility, this process can be powered or gravity-based.

Typical FIFO Conveyor System Examples

Gravity Roller Conveyor for Pallets

In this system, pallets are loaded at the infeed end and conveyed down a sloped, braked gravity roller conveyor. This ensures smooth, controlled movement as the pallets travel from the infeed to the outfeed, helping with stock rotation and minimising maintenance costs.

Powered Roller Drives for Totes

For heavier or more delicate products, powered roller conveyors are used. This system relies on powered roller drives to move totes or other items in a controlled manner while optimising space and reducing operator involvement.

Warehouse Stock Rotation

FIFO systems are commonly used in warehouses where stock rotation is critical. Products move seamlessly through the system, ensuring the oldest items are always picked first, improving stock management and reducing waste.

Cost-Efficient Solution

Non-powered FIFO systems offer significant savings on operating costs, as they do not require energy to function. Even powered options provide space-saving and cost-efficient handling of goods, enhancing real estate utilisation in a warehouse or factory setting.
